Concepts of Electronic Medical Records

Electronic medical record are patient’s medical data that are transferred to a computer file, called electronic medical record conversion, to be available at all times to all medical personal involved in the patient’s medical treatment or recovery.

According to studies, there are two components of electronic medical record or EMR. These are scanned or imaged record and born digital records.

Born digital records, is information captured in an electronic native format that are originally from information that were entered into a database, transcribed from a notebook pc or an electronic tablet, or captured from its inception electronically. This information is transferred to a server or host environment, where it is stored electronically.

The scanned or image records originally produced in a hard copy or paper, example is an x-ray film, which have been scanned to become in a digital form. This is the reason why they are sometimes called digital format records. The digital format records cannot be modified. Their contents cannot be altered and modified.

Creating electronic medical records is a process that requires time and effort. Transferring data, converting physical records to electronic records requires the same standard is it was recorded manually. This is to ensure that accurate and same data are captured. Different medical professionals recorded these physical records, which involves handwritten content.

Transferring manually recorded patients record to an electronic medical record is not an easy task. These Physical records come from different formats, sizes, media types and qualities that complicate the process of conversion.
